Privacy

Keepout does not collect personal data. Your notes and AI prompts stay on your device.

Data collection

Keepout has no account system, analytics, advertising, tracking SDK, crash-reporting service, cloud sync, or developer-operated server. We do not collect, receive, sell, share, or use your note content or app activity.

Local storage and encryption

Notes are stored locally as encrypted .md envelopes. Non-ephemeral AI memory and imported AI secrets are also encrypted at rest with separate purpose-derived keys. Keepout uses Apple's CryptoKit AES-256-GCM and a master key held in the non-synchronizing Keychain.

Local AI

Apple Foundation Models and Natural Language embeddings run on-device. Chat memory, semantic retrieval, and graph projections are stored and processed locally.

Network access

Core writing, encryption, search, links, graph, and AI features do not require a network connection. Keepout uses the network only when you explicitly open its embedded Substack sharing workflow or another web destination. Content entered into Substack is governed by Substack's privacy policy.
